JULIAN Assange has been incarcerated at one of the UK's worst prisons, Belmarsh.  He languishes in maximum security in solitary confinement 23 hours a day.

Without a television, books, a computer, one can only imagine the psychological impact that would have on him.

Dr Wesley Boyd, a Harvard psychiatrist stated in Psychology Today "Placing prisoners in solitary confinement is tantamount to torture and it needs to stop".

According to the same article, "Solitary confinement is so egregious a punishment that in 2011, the U.N. Special Rapporteur on Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment condemned its use, except in exceptional circumstances and for as short a time as possible".

So why is Julian Assange, a whistleblower, subject to this cruel and unusual torture?

Wikileaks Editor In Chief, Kristinn Hrafnsson together with Assnage supporter, Pamela Anderson were visibly distressed after their first visit to Belmarsh Prison to see Julian.  The pair stated that letters of support are greatly valued by Julian.  He has precious little left in his life.

For a man who has sacrificed everything, the least we can do is take a few minutes to write a letter.  Send him your love, send him your concern and care, send him the comments of support on your social media pages.
